Our search team explanation and Terms and conditions are here:
Animal Search UK missing pet search team – Terms and Conditions
Animal Search UK’s search team has been established since 1999. The purpose of the team is to assist owners in locating their missing or stolen pets.
We can undertake a variety of enquiries ranging from searching areas of open land and residential areas (Not including people’s homes) but we can search sheds, outbuildings garages etc providing we have permission from the owner of the property. All of our staff are fully insured to enter peoples properties e.g. land, sheds, garages.
We also publicise missing pets using posters and leaflets that include our free phone number. Under normal circumstances this will always be a part of the search.
A minimum order of 15 posters and 150 leaflets will be incorporated into every search quote (unless agreed otherwise with the search team manager), meaning that when we speak to people in the area about your missing pet we can give them the opportunity to call the confidential free phone number after we have left the scene to inform us of any news or information that they might have that they are not prepared to tell us on the day of the search.
The leaflets and posters will all bearing the free phone number which is manned by our call centre and headquarters 24-7. This campaign will also include an email to the all of the rescue centres that we have on our database in the region where a pet is missing from. We cannot guarantee that this is an exhaustive list all of rescue centres in the area, but a list of those successfully contacted will be made available upon an owner’s request.
Whenever possible we are as thorough as we reasonably can be in looking for a pet, but due to the nature of the task we cannot guarantee that we will find the pet. If it later turns out that a pet was found for example deceased in an inaccessible place within a building that had already been searched we cannot be held responsible or liable for not discovering the pet during a search.
This said we will do as much as we can to ensure that no stone is left unturned. Time constraints will always be applicable and we will search for as long as we are paid to do so.
If owners use the smallest search that we undertake – 3 hours of search time – it has to be made clear that we can only accomplish a limited amount in this time. We will generally start a search from the location a pet was last sighted and work in an ever increasing circular area.
Owners are quite welcome to join us on a search and work alongside us as long as they agree to follow our advice and use our expertise and experience to conduct the search in a way that falls into line with our normal practice.
We will, whenever possible, work with an owner to ensure that aspects of a search that an owner would definitely like to be carried out are undertaken, and that the owner is happy with the work that has been done for them.
Payment will normally be required before the search team attend a search. Charges are to be confirmed at an hourly rate upon quotation and will be subject to VAT. Payment can be made by Paypal or bank transfer.
Mileage will be charged at £0.40 per mile both to the location of the search and back to the headquarters or to the search co-ordinators home address (whichever is closer) after the search.
We will charge an owner for maps of the search area when applicable. Owners will be informed beforehand if this is the case in the search for their pet.
If the total search and travel time is in excess of 9 hours when a single search team member is requested then, to fit in with the working time regulations and to take the health and welfare of our staff into consideration, then the owner may be charged an overnight stay fee. This will again be added into quotes where applicable before any work is undertaken.
For stays away from home an incidental expenses charge of £25 per person per day may be made to cover the cost of meals. If this is deemed necessary, this will again be added into quotes where applicable before any work is undertaken.
Whenever possible the Animal Search UK marked search team vehicle will be used to attend a search, but this is not guaranteed as search co-ordinators may use their own vehicles that are not marked with our livery.
Also wherever possible the search team will attend in full, high visibility uniform and identification badges. This will re assure people in the area that we are legitimate callers and will hopefully encourage a positive response from people when door to door enquiries are undertaken.
The equipment that the search team use, ranging from ladders to cat baskets, torches, two way radios etc will be provided as part of the hourly rate cost and will incur no extra charge.
If a search is carried out over a number of days we request that you allow us to recharge the torches and radios in your home. Whenever possible we will use circuit breakers to minimise the risks whilst equipment is being charged.
Under normal circumstances payment is required before a search takes place, unless by prior arrangement, and can either be made by PayPal or bank transfer.
If a pet returns home before the search then a refund will be issued minus any printing costs incurred and/or travel costs incurred if the search team are already on route to the location.
